Stavros Kotsireas was an apprentice and student of Vassilis Fotopoulos and assisted him in various theatrical set designs and productions in The Theatre of Art founded by Karolos Koun in 1980-1982. Vasilis Fotopoulos was awarded the Oscar Price for his set and costume design for the film "Zorba the Greek" in 1965. Fotopoulos became Stavros's mentor.
